Daily Thoughts
September 21, 2003
Continuing off of yesterday's entry, I'm going to finish recounting the events of my weekend
thus far. If this is boring for you, there's a simple solution... stop reading. I'm doing
this more for me anyways so that I don't forget everything.
Yeah, so yesterday I was volunteered to go with Becky and help out with inventory at
another home-costume business at bright and early 8:30 in the morning. Although that's the
same time as the beach clean-up, so I would've been up that early anyways. But yeah, so I
went to get Becky and ended up having to wake her up... that must've been scary, waking up
to see me there! Then we followed Becky's mom's cryptic directions to the house. Well,
actually following the directions led us to the wrong house... "Becky, does she have
a dog?" "Uh... no." But we were able to find it on the second try. Once we got there, we
were immediately put to work counting, sorting, and recording all of the Disguise costumes.
Hard work. Or tiring at least. "What do you mean 5447M? There is no 5447M!" Ugh, Dora
the Explorer... how many times did we have to recount those? Well, at least we were payed!
We each made $28 -- 7 bucks an hour! Woohoo!
Yeah, well after that, I took Becky out to lunch at KFC and together we enjoyed some popcorn
chicken (although some of our pieces were not so popcorn-esq in size...). The best part of
KFC had to be Becky's very goat-day quip. "Hi Kim, I'm your cup." "Hi cup..." "I'm your Kim."
Yeah, sorry if you don't get it. Just take my word that it was funny.
After enjoying our very filling meal of chicken of the popcorn variety, we headed out towards
home... indirectly. "He was a scooter boy/ they said see ya later boy/ he wasn't good
enough for them!" *squeals* "Oh! Carpool lane!" Evanescence. Good song. Everytime! Yeah.
Mmm... chocolate cake.
After all of this, it was time for the Kiwanis Family Picnic/Softball Tournament. So, Becky
and I headed out, with a quick stop at the pet store (and we were not the only ones from the
tournament to do so). After picking up Jinah, we arrived at the park and proceeded to set
up. Then the gang (Becky, Cassandra, Jinah, Jodi, and I decided to have a little pre-game
practice). Unfortunately, we had to climb the fence in order to do so. But yay for Jinah!
She got over it eventually! So proud...
Anyways, I'm getting tired of writing, so I'm gonna jump straight to the game. Basically,
we won. Yeah. 16-10. Yay! Of course, my group of friends played fabulously! Sperlein is
an awesome pitcher and really knew how to cover for all those guys that kept missing/dropping
the ball, I was happy to see that Walda's welt(s) did not inhibit her game skills at all, as
she eagerly took the position of catcher and shouted encoraging phrases to us with the
introduction of each new opposing batter, Javery had great team spirit, rivaled only by that
of Hayes who busted out a couple verses of impromptu "We Will Rock You" every now and then.
Also, Javery and Hayes both slid into first base -- showing true dedication! I slid too...
but that would be better classified as a fall due to a lack of friction between the damp
outfield grass and my feet rather than a slide for the benefit of the team. But still.
Anyways, everybody played great and had fun! I even hit somewhat decently... I'd give it a
three... Well, we all definitely looked alive out there!
We feel good, oh we feel so good! Uh-uh-uh-uh...
September 20, 2003
Wow, It has been a busy weekend so far... and I still have a full day to go! So exhausted...
and it's only 8:30!
Anyways, F.O.E. (yes, that's Forces of Evil in case you have trouble with acronyms) concert
last night at SOMA was great! There were four (yes, four... *sigh* I know) opening
groups before F.O.E. came on. The first were The Insurgers..? Not sure on their name, but
it doesn't really matter because they weren't that good. Next was a local San Diego ska
band, G-Spot. They were actually decent, they had some good stuff. The third group to
play had like the longest set (well, it felt like forever anyways...) and they had the
largest amount of annoying "groupies" there too. Group name was Bad Credit, and I didn't
like any of their stuff, mainly because the lead singer was obnoxious and because they
brought out a trombone but only used it in one song! How misleading is that? And everyone
knows that playing the trombone is "undeniably hip"! Yeah, well
fortunately the last opener was really good! While they were setting up their equipment,
one of the horns handed out free stickers featuring the band's name, Starpool. The sax
player even came out and entertained the crowd with pirate talk. "Yes, it's a ten-ARRR
saxophone!" Okay, just a side note here, but it was crazy! Everybody there actually knew
it was Talk Like a Pirate Day! No kidding! Before now, I had only experienced the actual
effects of this day within my family and group of friends, but to see a whole room of people
celebrating it... wow. Anyways, Starpool was good, I wanted a drumstick, but the kid
behind me got it. Oh well, at least he wasn't one of the little kids! By the time F.O.E.
came on it was already about 11, but it was worth the wait, I loved it! After their set, I
got one of the playlists from the trumpet player (I think Chris), but I gave it to Christine
because her sticker mysteriously disappeared, and it would make a nice asset to her wall.
Yeah, so that's about it on the concert. Random extras: "Well, they've got to eat!"
what's with all the converses? Yeah, I'm really tired and my ears are still ringing
it seems, so I'm gonna go to bed. I'll finish my account of my weekend tomorrow.
BTW, for a more entertaining and much more accurate description of Friday, be sure to read
Christine's xanga.

Yeah, stuff has been going really well recently. I've just been too busy to write about it.
Hmm... kinda like right now. I'm off to bed, I'll add a more acceptable update later. In
the meantime, smile!

The coolest thing happened today! A song was created about me! I mean, c'mon, it's not everyday
that you provide someone with musical inspiration -- is it? Yeah, that's what I thought.
So, how did this peculiar event come to pass? Well, during sixth period when most of you
guys are all still hard at work in class (hehe!), Jenae and I were wandering around campus finishing
up our photography assignment. We had a couple pictures left, so we headed over to the
theater where the flags were practicing... then, much to our luck, we stumbled across a
couple of guys who were hanging out in front of the theater playing a guitar! Now I
couldn't just let this perfect photo op pass me by, so while Jenae recorded our camera
settings, I approached the young musician and asked if he would mind if I took his picture.
He didn't mind at all. As I began to focus the lens, he started strumming away. Then,
suddenly without warning, he and his friend started ad-libbing a song:
Sitting here playing my guitar,
Photography Girl came to take our picture.
Oh, she wants our pic-ture,
Photography Girl is taking our picture!
Yeah, okay, so the words may have varied slightly, because unfortunately it wasn't a video
camera and I don't remember them exactly, but that's the gist of it. The tune was actually
really catchy too! Someday we might just hear "Photography Girl" on the radio, and we will
all know that I am that girl. Yeah, pretty cool, I know.
Anyways, I really hope that picture turns out all right. If it does, I'll be sure to post it
up here... you know, once I actually get my pictures page up and running. But yeah, I think
I could've shot him at a better angle now that I reflect back on it. Oh well. Maybe
Guitar Guy will be there some other day and I can try again...

I was in a movie today. Okay, so maybe not a movie, more like Christine's 60 second digital
media project, but still. In order to participate in such an event, I had to stick around
campus all sixth period. So, what did Christine and I do? We wandered around with a
video camera and well-packaged mugs! I can't believe we got snubbed by Le! The Merc
smiled at me too. Oh, and what's with the invasive, ditching freshman? "hehehehe, what're
you guys doing?" What're you doing? *sigh* Freshmen...
Oh! Since we're on the subject of crazy freshmen, I sure hope all the freshmen on campus go
and vote in the upcoming school election. Yeah, for "Fresmen" class president.
Uh-huh. C'mon, does somebody really deserve the right to run for the position if
their campaign posters don't even have the word freshmen spelt correctly? I know I
wouldn't vote for her! Reminds me of the Cheerleader's bakesale Thursday at "snake"...
People really need to start proofreading their signs before they hang them around
school.
Oh yeah, I've kinda strayed from my original topic. As for the actual filming, it went all
right -- poor Christine. Sorry! I'm not an actress! Although it sure brought back flashbacks
from my previous acting days -- Cacafungus! Ahh! Oh the drama! Fourth grade movie
productions are the best, eh Alicia?
Does it feel like it should be a Friday to anybody else? I've been thinking it's Friday all
day long! I don't know why. Oh, and I just have to mention that I am very disappointed in
the Jodester's reading habbits! *tsk tsk* I mean, really! Okay, well, everybody try
and enjoy the rest of the week! Remember page 93 of the planner!
Take some time off to just relax. Enjoy being alive and do nothing in particular.
Renew your energy.

Three and a half hours dwindled away, $3.75 spent, one jamba juice consumed, and a lot
of gas wasted... It has been a great day!
On my outing, I even discovered some local stores which stock unauthentic, but nevertheless
cute, hats! Alas, I made no purchases, but it warms the soul just to know they're out
there. Although I'm still quite bitter -- I could've owned two vintage berets (one brown
and one white) for only $1!!! Bidding closed this morning... 0 bids. =( Maybe they'll come
back... *scans ebay hopefully*
Also, today is my final day of listening to the fish as I feel I should return the CD to
Christine eventually. Yeah, I made a copy... but it's just not the same. Especially
considering that the last two tracks have major glitches due to my computer's cd copier not
functioning terribly well. "Alternative, Baby" is unplayable! *tear* But yeah, Christine,
you should be happy -- I'm a ska convert! Plus some of Reel Big Fish's stuff would make
great songs for a tap dance... ugh, the curse of being a dancer... every song is instantly
analyzed and automatically thought of in terms of dance. Eh well.
Anyways, the third week of schooling is kicking off now with the oh so enjoyable activity of
homework since I have nothing better to do. I can't wait until the 18th! Then I can kidnap
my friends and we can beach on the hot weekends. Yeah. That's all for now. Bye.
September 2, 2003
Today it rained. I love the rain.
In fact, at the very moment that I find myself writing this, I am literally drenched --
hair dripping and all. This could most likely be due to the fact that upon the storm's
initial start, I decided to go stand out in my backyard in full range of the falling water.
As my mom hurried around me to quickly cover up miscellaneous stuff with tarps and move
cats indoors she questioned, "What? It's not like you've never seen rain before!" Yeah, so
maybe I have seen rain before, but it's not something that happens all that often here, so
I like to enjoy it on the rare occasion when it does.
By the time the last cat had finally been dragged out from underneath the bushes and placed
inside the dry house, I was already rather wet. So -- having an incredibly weird system of
logical thinking -- I decided that it wouldn't make a difference if I got just a little more
wet. Yeah. I took a stroll around the block in the pouring rain. Almost as entertaining
as the walk itself were the weird looks I received from the people I encountered. What's
the big deal? It's just rain! Besides walking in the rain down a silent stretch of street
is one of the best feelings in the world! And maybe, just maybe, there was a hint of a hum
on my lips and a slight shuffle to my feet... but I'm not admitting anything! I'm no Gene
Kelly, that's for sure.
Anyways, after sharing this small, enjoyable part of my day, I'm thinking that changing into
some dry pajama pants and curling up in my comfy bed with some cookies and a good book sounds
quite inviting now. Hope you all take just a little time today to enjoy the rain too!
