The theme for this week is SHINY.

This is a shiny silver hood ornament on a shiny black vintage car.
We saw this car when we went to a Father's Day vintage auto show. It's a 1955 Chevrolet. For most of my childhood our family car was a '55 Chevy. Ours was blue, but it did have the silver airplane hood ornament in the front. Why don't they put hood ornaments on cars anymore?

The theme for this week is HAIR.

My Gandfather always called my hair strawberry blonde.
Whenever I visited he'd sing, "Casey would waltz with a strawberry blonde and the band played on."

Wednesday, June 20, 2007 -- Plumbing
We now have running water again. Or, that is to say, we can now run the water without it also creating a lake on the garage floor.
It seems one of the pipes in the wall sprung a leak. After cutting several holes in the wall, we were able to determine that the leak was somewhere below the second story floor but above the first floor ceiling. Now one would think you could just pull out that little chunk of pipe and replace it. - But no. Instead of the pipe running straight up from the downstairs floor to the upstairs bathroom sink, it ran up eight feet to the sub-ceiling, over to the right four inches, back into the interior of the house three feet, up a few more inches, back out toward the wall, over to the left four inches, and then the rest of the way up the wall.
What was it going around? Was there something in the way? -- No.
Why would they do that? -- Who knows. Perhaps to guarantee it would take a plumber three times longer to repair; one of those little contractor's jokes on the home owner.
"It was a challenge," the plumber said.

The theme for this week is ART.

Two sculptures - The first is the Morey Eel sculpture at Sea World.
The second is a beautiful carved wood sculpture we saw at the SD County Fair.
Raymond and I went to Sea World when he was home, just a couple of days before our passes expired. We wanted to go once more, since we aren't planning to renew our membership this year.
I've always loved going to Sea World. It's so pretty and relaxing. We've been members for many years and, when the kids were young, we used to go every few weeks. But now I just don't get out there very often anymore.

Lloyd and I danced at the County Fair on Square Dance Day last week, then had a nice time at the fair seeing the garden and art exhibits. The woodworking room was one of our favorite exhibits. We really liked these carved dolphins.

Thursday, June 14, 2007 -- Visitors
We've been pretty busy the last couple of weeks. Raymond was home for a week and Sara came for a weekend. Then Kimberly was home for a couple days. And, just as she left, Kerry and Stacy arrived to spend a few days. We got an Ikea sofa bed and some new pillows, so we can now accomodate more than one guest at a time.
I think, perhaps, I should get some new towels before we have guests again, though.
(From Gilmore Girls) - "We have guest towels?"
"Of course we have guest towels. That's just a fancy way of saying towels that are clean."
But even clean, these towels are looking a little ragged.

The theme for this week is SHOES.

Do shoes serve any purpose, other than for dance?
(This is Kimberly and a friend performing with the San Diego Civic Dance Company.)
Shoes are at the top of my list of things I do not like. Other than dance shoes, I seldom wear anything but sandals and even then my preference would be to go barefoot.

The theme for this week is COLORFUL.

I started doing counted cross stitch embroidery years ago.
I think I have just about all the different colors of thread that DMC makes. I've also done needle point, petit point, and crewel, but cross stitch is my favorite.
