Friday, September 15, 2006 -- Penguin Dance

It's the "Happy Birthday!" Penguin Dance for Raymond.

Sunday, September 10, 2006 -- Success
"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch of a redeemed social condition; to know that one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Wednesday, September 6, 2006 -- Thinking of John
I wanted to write something about John. I have so many memories but I can't seem to organize my thoughts into words. John was vivacious, gregarious, spontaneous, crazy - but smart, a well respected, responsible adult who had never outgrown being a kid at heart. The life of the party, he was hilarious and fun. His stories and antics always had everyone laughing, but he also loved playing with the kids. When I think of John I think of; "pony rides" and pinatas (Be sure to get out of the way!), Christmas parties and sing-a-longs and huge fires in the fireplace, even though the weather was hot ("You've got to have a fire at Christmas time."), Ding-Dongs and FOUR kinds of pie, and a best buddy dog named Jake. ("He goes with me wherever I go.") But who brings a dog to a house full of cats? -- John, a very unique person. He'll be missed.

Wednesday, August 30, 2006 -- Back to School
University football player interviewed on the news - "It's not just a Party School anymore. It's a FOOTBALL School, too."
Silly me, I thought it was an academic school.

Thursday, August 17, 2006 -- Cat Naps
I've shuffled and moved things around a bit, so the good news is - I now have an ironing board set up right near my sewing area, where it is ready to use whenever I need it, but, the bad news is - there is always a cat stretched out asleep on it.

Wednesday, August 16, 2006 -- Still Here
Yeah, I'm still here - I've just been really busy, both with home stuff and work.

Wednesday, July 12, 2006 -- Visitors
Raymond cleaned his room and vacuumed the house today, even the stairs. Gee, I think we should invite Sara over every week.

Tuesday, July 11, 2006 -- Message Cont.
Okay. It's Wells Fargo. But at the cost of billboard advertising, wouldn't you think they'd put their name where it was a little more visible?

Tuesday, July 4, 2006 -- Message
While driving along we passed a billboard with a picture of "rubber duckies" and the message, "Tomorrow Your Ducks in a Row"
I was thinking to myself, "That doesn't make any sense. Gramatically, it isn't even a sentence. And what is it advertising, anyway?"
Just then Raymond said, "Did you see that duck sign? Did it make any sense to you? Gramatically, it isn't even a sentence. And what is it advertising, anyway?"
Yes, he is my son.

Monday, July 3, 2006 -- Farewell Fish
It seems Kimberly's fish committed suicide. She'd just gotten it last week at a reception where the Beta fish were used as part of the decorations. The little fish (about the size of a fifty cent piece) rode all the way home with her, never giving any indication that he was clinically depressed or mentally imbalanced. But as soon as he was left alone for a short time (in a lidded drinking cup with a small hole about a quarter of an inch in diameter in it for air) he somehow, and quite unbelievably, managed to a) jump out of the water, b) shimmy his way through the small hole, c) flop out of the cup, and d) take a flying leap off the shelf to land on the floor where he was found by Kimberly - much too late. Who knew this fish had a death wish?
